​So this is my first “diet diary” although I don’t like to say that I am “on a diet” All it actually is, is that I don’t feel comfortable with how I eat, look, and feel lately. Eating a lot of nasty snacks and things as well as drinking a lot of soda and not getting any exercise at all. For some people this doesn’t matter, they have a metabolism like the “Energizer Bunny” and they can eat whatever they want whenever they want. Needless to say, I am not this kind of person.

​I want people to understand as well, that this isn’t just for me, it’s for my family. I want my daughter to have a healthy Daddy who’s always gonna be able to chase them around and play with them and give them an awesome life growing up. I want my wife to have a husband that’s fun and happy and physically fit to handle all the things that need handling. The most important thing though, is that I want to be around for as long as possible. I don’t want to “kick the bucket” from a heart-attack while my oldest child is still in college. I don’t want to be one of those guys who died before really getting a chance to live.

​So here I am, starting the third week of my new self, and I’m feeling generally good. Here are the guidelines I have set for myself:

• No more soda.
• No fast food or greasy food Monday thru Friday
• No more snacks between meals.
• Eat until you feel content, not stuffed.
• Go to the gym every day Monday thru Friday.

Week one went pretty well. I stuck to my guns about no soda, going to the gym every day, and not stuffing myself. However, week two was almost a total blowout. I was sick with a chest infection, so breathing wasn’t easy for me even when standing still. Therefore I only made it to the gym 2 or 3 times, and I wasn’t able to do much. I also started to get back into soda more than I should have towards the end of the week.

But now I am no longer (as) sick as I was! So it’s back to the gym every day and therefore back to the diet that goes along with it! WE’RE BACK BABY. IT’S MONDAY AND I’M FEELING PUMPED.

As far as my actual intake of food, I haven’t changed much besides dropping my intake of carbs and drastically bumping up my intake of fruits and vegetables. I’ve also been sticking with juices and water instead of soda. I even started doing Coconut Water for a bit but I don’t want to go to crazy. I’m not the “protein shake” or “Cliff Bar” kind of person when it comes to eating healthier. I’d prefer just a big bowl of sliced strawberry, banana, kiwi, and blueberries. Or even grind those all up in a smoothie.

In any case, I’ll be checking back in once a week. I think by doing this little section of my blog where I can keep track of everything it’ll help me stick to this “new life”. Comments are welcome! Anything to help the cause is greatly appreciated.

I want to be a better father, a better husband, and a better man. I’m determined as hell. Watch me do it.
